Equity or Equality?
Equity and equality are related concepts, but equity provides additional context for achieving equality. This is an important distinction that makes the case for why DEI still matters and why collaborative intelligence tools are essential tools in the impact landscape.
Equality requires that everyone receives the same resources and opportunities, regardless of circumstances and despite any inherent advantages or disadvantages that apply to certain groups.
Equity requires that everyone receive the same opportunities but considers the specific needs or circumstances of a person or group and provides the types of resources needed to be successful.
